Day 6: Rest day, Brisbane

Nau Mai

Yesterday we enjoyed another sunny day in our airbnb retreat.

After our trip to the fancy supermarket we now had some ingredients in the house and I treated myself to a cooked breakfast. The BBQ was used to cook three stems of baby broccoli and a frying pan was used to cook two eggs dark side down. I served the eggs on top of toasted slices of sourdough (the same bread that Jon retrieved from the Ferris wheel) and I sprinkled salt, pepper, and chili flakes over the whole dish.

I went for a walk to buy bread for dinner and along the way was lucky enough to catch this horse having a break on top of the Rochele Commercial and Residential Painters building in Albion.

I took this next photo for those of you home in New Zealand wondering how the gas prices are here in Australia. (For the curiosity of those international readers, this petrol price is much cheaper than in NZ. And good luck converting your galleons into litres).

This is the sort of thing we get up to on a rest day. Our balcony overlooks a tidy collection of sporting grounds including pétanque, lawn bowls, basketball, cricket, and track and field.

I attempted to wash and dry my clothes but was beset by a disaster when the washing line was hit by a big gust of wind.

We cooked dinner together and had a movie night. Tomb Raider (2001) was screened on the giant and low-mounted television. If you don’t have time to watch the entire one hundred minutes this animated Gif provides a pretty good summary.
