Day 9: Rest Day, Indianapolis
Nau mai
Yesterday we enjoyed a day of rest in Indianapolis.
Bené Blanco was parked outside our hotel in a suburb of northeast Indianapolis yesterday. The hotel itself was called Hampton Inn Indianapolis-Ne/Castleton and what it lacked in elevator maintenance and pleasant room scent it made up for with a delightful pond and an enthusiastic knoll.

After checking in I headed out to get breakfast, a smoggy walk along East 82nd street to a Vietnamese restaurant I had found, located in an orbital strip mall on the northeast edge of the greater Castleton megaplex.
Here are a few photos from my walk, a journey that was unpleasant while I was walking the busy highway and trying to find a working crosswalk, but became quite enjoyable once I branched off and found the lushly lawned side roads.
I arrived at Hanna’s Banh Mi Bakery and ordered a grilled pork Banh Mi and a wildberry smoothie, sitting outside to enjoy it in the oppressive humidity that this sandwich had been designed for.
After breakfast I continued west across the great mall of Castleton, enjoying the empty parking lots on the north side which gave off a strong Dawn of the Dead energy.
I crossed the entire mall and made it to Castleton Guitar Centre, purchasing for my self a new set of bass guitar strings and a couple of bags of extremely sharp picks.
Our evening activity was a film viewing and we went to the AMC cinemas at the mall. The building was tall. Look at how many Jonathan Pearces you would need to stack to reach the top of this foyer.
After the movie we had dinner, a family restaurant called Twin Peaks that had a separate TV for every person in the bar.
The band members scramble across a drainage ditch to get back to the hotel.
