Day 23: Rest Day - Cleveland, OH
Nau mai
Yesterday we had a Thursday off, enjoying a stop in the jewel of the midwest, Cleveland, Ohio.
There are three main parts of Cleveland: Downtown, which is right on Lake Erie, Midtown, which is inland and to the east, and Birdtown which is to the west past the Cuyahoga River. We spent our day parked outside a trendy hotel in midtown, resting and making the most of the hotel facilities which included Foosball, Giant Jenga, rattan egg chairs, and a patio with a fire pit.
Tristan and Annie began their day with a violent game of this brutal contact sport.
I began my day with a healthy meal from a nearby establishment called Susanna’s Café by HELP Harvest.
A grilled peach salad with blackberries, toasted almonds, and a berry balsamic dressing.
After a suggestion from Liz I’m trying the Tossie format as an animated gif.
Gabe and I walked to the beautiful public tennis courts at Rockefeller Park to have a hit. We were rained out after an hour but were fascinated to see a pair of players arrive in raincoats just as the shower began to intensify. As we were leaving they were looking perfectly satisfied with the conditions, lobbing soggy balls over the net and enjoying as they bounced in splashy puddles.
Truly the worst colour scheme of any hotel we have visited. I can’t even think what this reminds me of.
Creamy Four Wheels seamlessly blending in with all the other vehicles of the hotel parking lot.
