Day 2: Brisbane

Welcome

Yesterday we flew from Sydney to Brisbane and played a show in the Fortitude Valley.

Tristan started his day with a secret coffee and pastries run earning the praise and admiration of the other band members. My breakfast which is pictured below is comprised of Almond Croissant, Pain au Chocolat, and Banana bread.

Touring in Australia is it’s own experience. Most of the day is spent in transit and what we see is confined to the inside of a plane or the outside of a motorway. Here are a few of the highlights from yesterday’s transit.

Boarding our 2021 Toyota Hiace for the trip to Sydney airport.

Sydney airport departure lounge.

Flying along Australia’s Southeast coast.

Loading up our 2021 Toyota Hiace at Brisbane Airport.

Waiting for the elevator at our hotel.

After five hours in transit we arrived at our hotel and checked into our room which was on the 43rd floor, probably the highest hotel room we have experienced together as a band, and definitely the highest place we have all eaten Vietnamese food.

After our snack we were picked up in the 2021 Toyota Hiace and whisked off to the venue for setup and soundcheck which ate up the next few hours. The show was at The Zoo - a former warehouse that has been an independent music venue since 1992. Hachiku opened up the night again sounding amazing and we had a really fun set ourselves soaking up the Friday night Brisbane energy.

The Zoo. Hachiku are pictured mid soundcheck.

A false alarm on the humidity sensor - turns out it was just the inside of Liz’s bag that was causing this reading.
