Day 20: Philadelphia PA

Welcome

Yesterday we played a show in Philadelphia, the largest city in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the birthplace of liberty.

Tristan and I started our morning with a fairly extended walk around the Philadelphia downtown and ended up at Bubby’s Brisket where I ordered a brisket sandwich with cheese. It was the coldest day of the tour with temperatures getting down into the low thirties and it felt good to finally wear the jacket and scarf I had been carrying around for the past few weeks.

Tristan enjoying the swings at The Rail Park - a disused piece of railway converted into a public space.

Broad Street and the Philadelphia City Hall.

The gig was at Underground Arts in the neighbourhood of Callowhill, Northeast of the City Centre, and Northwest of the Liberty Bell. It seemed that the residents of Philly haven’t been going out to a lot of gigs recently because they ‘came in pretty hot’ to our show. Special thanks goes to Runo who painted us this beautiful picture of a tīeke.

Lunar Vacation as seen from the viewing screen in the next room.

My faucet of the day is a groundbreaking design that utilises commercial garden irrigation technology and features a mechanical safety valve in case of over-pressure.
